What can a steamer do?

Cleaning

Remove the grease and grime in kitchen and bathroom or any other stain which can be softened by hot steam. Use the various attachments included (brushes, scrappers, cloth) in hard-to-scrub locations.

Sanitizing

Steam clean fabric furniture and beds for deep penetration and release of built up debris. Steam is a powerful weapon against bed bugs and other household pests.

Removing Wrinkles

A great way to freshen up delicate clothing of silk, lace, wool, and cashmere, and to clean and de-wrinkle your hanging curtains.

Quick Start Steps:

1. Open the steam boiler: Turn the boiler cap counter-clockwise.

2. Fill water: Use distilled or soft water to avoid scale built-up. Fill 200 to max 300 ml water into the boiler with the measuring cup provided.

3. Close the boiler: Put back the boiler cap and turn it clockwise tightly.

4. Accessories configuration: Install the extension hose onto the steam outlet. Further install the brush adaptor onto the extension hose, then attach one of the brushes suitable for the surface to be cleaned. All connections require turning 90-degree to lock in place.

Note: For certain jobs, or quick clean, or stronger steam flow, the steamer can be used without the extension hose, just keep the unit mostly vertical or fill less water to allow tilting without hot water spilling from the outlet. Install the brush adaptor directly to the steam outlet, then attach the desired brush.

5. Start the steamer: Plug the power cord to a 115V wall outlet, then the indicator light turns red. Depending on the initial water volume, it takes 2-4 minutes to heat up cold water to boiling and generate enough pressurized steam; the internal heater stops heating and the light turns green, indicating the steamer is ready to work.

Note: Once steam starts to flow, pressure inside the boiler drops and the heater is automatically turned on again, and the light turns red.

6. Steam clean: Pull back the safety trigger with your index finger first, then press down the button on the top of the handle with your thumb and hold it in place to keep steam flow. This is to avoid steam releasing accidentally. Once steam starts, the safety trigger can be released and steam can keep coming out while only holding the thumb button on the handle. Target the steam to the stained area and hold for a while to soften the stain, scrape with a brush if necessary. Wipe the surface clean and dry it with cloth when the job is done. When water inside is completely vaporized, steam stops flowing. The heater ceases working and the light turns green.

7. Refill and the safety button: If water runs out while the job is not finished and one wants to continue cleaning, wait a few seconds for the small safety post on the center of the boiler cap to drop to its normal position, or the post can be pressed down with a light touch, then follow above Steps 1 through 6. When the safety post pops up, the boiler cannot be opened.

8. Turn-on and turn-off: There is no external electric on/off switch on the unit. When it is plugged to a power outlet, it is turned on. Unplug it to turn it off. Never connect the steamer to power unless the boiler is filled with water and the cap is tightened.

9. Indicator light: The light indicates the status of the heater. If the heater works, the light is red. If it stops working, the light is green. As long as the unit is connected to power, the heater works automatically unless the boiler is overheated or over pressurized. If that happens, the heater stops working and the light turns green.

FAQ and Troubleshooting:

Q: How does a steamer work?

A: Water is heated past the boiling point and becomes hot steam, which is released through a nozzle, brush, or other attachment to loosen dirt, kill dust mites, mold, staph, bed bugs, and other allergens and harmful bacteria.

Steam cleans and dissolves stains by the heat it carries without using any harsh chemicals, thus it’s introduces no chemicals to your home, especially beneficial for people with allergy and small children.

Q: How long can a steamer work?

A: It depends on how much water the boiler has to start with, the more water it has, the more hot steam it can produce. For the VH-ST10 handheld steamer, it can be filled with max 300 ml water, which can generate about 13 minutes of continuous steam.

Q: What can and can’t steamers clean?

A: Steam works well on hard, impervious surfaces, such as countertop and bathroom fixtures, and tiled floors. With the high temperature vapour, it is especially good at removing greases and stains on these surfaces. It is not recommended to use on painted walls and unsealed floors, which may be damaged by the moisture.

Q: Why can’t I open the cap during use or after use to refill the boiler?

A: There is a small safety post on the top center of the boiler cap. When the pressure inside is higher than outside, the post pops up and the cap cannot be opened by turning, which can prevent hot steam from jetting out to cause injury. If water runs out and the green light turns on, please keep pressing on the steam button to release any residual pressure, normally the post can drop to its original position automatically. If that doesn’t happen, please unplug the power, rotate the boiler cap in a 30 degree range clockwise and counterclockwise, until there is a click where the post finds it way to drop. If the post still doesn’t move, please press on it gently while turning the cap.

Q: Why the steamer cannot clean as I expected?

A: Please make sure the steam has sufficient time to heat and soften the stain, and use the proper accessories (brush, scraper, and cloth) to help. During steam-releasing, if a higher-temperature steam burst is needed, one can let go the steam button to stop the steam, wait 10 seconds or so for the boiler build up pressure and resume cleaning when the light turns green, and repeat the process.

Q: Why does steam stop coming out even there is still water inside?

A: Make sure the steamer is kept plugged to a power outlet during use. It requires electricity to heat up water and provide continuous steam flow.

Q: Why does hot water come out of the brush tips?

A: Make sure the boiler is not over-filled with more than 300 ml water; Do not tilt the steamer such that water flows into the steam outlet located on the top of the boiler. However it’s normal to see small amount of water coming out of brush tips when the steamer is first used from cold state. This is from previous moisture condensation inside the system, and for only a few seconds.

Q: Why the capacity in the user manual is 220ml while it is 300ml on the product page?

A: We hope our customers can get the best out of our products. After a lot of testing, we can confirm it is safe to fill 300ml water into the boiler to achieve longer steam time.
